 230 workstations, 32 private enclosed management suites, casual break-out areas, reception counters and storage areas spanning 3 entire levels. The Sydney Catchment Authority (SCA) occupy levels 4, 5 and 6 in the newly built government building in western Sydney’s Penrith. The job quickly became known as "down the road". Pat Leto, Watts director, recalls,“It did make things a lot easier, we almost considered walking things down [to sape]. It saved us a bit of time and money on things such as logistics and these savings were passed on to the client. It was anything but a typical job, generally I get phone calls and emails, Ray would just pop his head in and say g'day if he needed anything. It worked really well." Picture for just a moment sitting behind your desk, gazing almost 20 metres above to a ceiling boasting oversized steel beams, exhaust fans and hoppers. Believe it or not, this is the nine to five for the select few lucky enough to work in the newly refurbished Casula powerhouse. The end result is a work environment that is light and open in the work spaces, yet warm, elegant and detailed in the enclosed areas. A large emphasis was put on making the building ‘flow’ through the various areas. The kitchen, for example, needed to open onto the servery counter in the boardroom, so visual cues from the boardroom were taken across into the kitchen, then the kitchen onto the workstations and so on. Complete fit out of a new Tafe building in Ballina. The Fit out includes both open plan and enclosed offices. Also present are computer labs which feature work tops spanning the entire perimeter of the rooms and can cater for up to 80 people. The entire install features the 'Agenda' leg. Designed by Watts, the leg is suitable for an array of applications. |
